The 120mm L / 44 is a Japanese 120mm tank gun from modern times. Currently, it is the main armament of the Type 10 Main Battle Tank. Japan Steel Works (JSW for short) is responsible for its development and production. When writing about this gun, it should first be stated that it is not a copy of the German Rheinmetall Rh-120 gun, which is licensed in JSW plants, but is an independent construction of these plants, although it probably uses some technological solutions used in the Rh-120 . It should be added, however, that the latter statement is only a guess. The gun has a barrel length of 44 calibers, so it measures 528 centimeters. At the same time, however, you can find information about the work carried out on a barrel with a length of 50 and 55 calibers. The basic type of cartridge that the presented cannon shoots are APFSDS rounds - both licensed (JM33) and those designed specifically for the 120 mm L / 44 cannon. It can be assumed that the 120 mm L / 44 gun is a very accurate gun, with good or very good ballistic properties, as well as considerable ability to counter armored targets.
